Asha Sharma, Prominent Television And Film Actress, Passes Away At 88
Veteran actress Asha Sharma, known for her role as Shabari in Om Raut’s Adipurush, passed away at the age of 88 on Sunday morning.
Asha Sharma is a renowned veteran film and television actor, widely recognized for her memorable portrayals of motherly, grandmotherly, and aunt-like characters.
While the family members were busy with her last rites, actress Tina Ghai, when contacted, said, “Last year, since the release of her film Adipurush, she had four falls that proved fatal.
She had been bedridden since last April.”
“Ashaji wanted to work till her last breath.
She was bedridden but told me to get her some role where they want a character who is on the bed. She was very keen, and her passion and enthusiasm was intact. But it broke her after her caretaker had to quit the job as she had a personal emergency at home. Ashaji always felt that if she would be around nothing would happen to her,” Tine added.
The news of the veteran film and television actor Asha Sharma, known for her iconic roles as a mother, grandmother, or aunt, demise was confirmed by the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA), which took to its official X handle to offer condolences.
When we reached out to director Om Raut, he said, “So unfortunate… what a fantastic actor and a human she was, so sad to hear.”
Asha Shrma started her career at the age of 13 as a voiceover artist. In her longstanding journey, Asha Sharma featured in over 35 films, including 1920, Humko Tumse Pyar Hai, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, and Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai.
She has also been a part of television shows like Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya and Meet Mila De Rabba.
